Abstrak

t Consumption of natural resources and energy is increasing every day, including the use of
natural gas as household and industrial fuel. Safety must be considered when using this gas, because
gas leaks can cause fires. Therefore in this research a leak detection tool is proposed Internet of Things
(IoT) based gas using NodeMCU ESP8266 as the microcontroller. This detection system uses an MQ2 sensor to detect gas levels and a fire sensor to detect ultraviolet light which indicates the presence of
fire. Apart from providing gas leak and fire notifications, this tool is also equipped with temperature and
humidity monitoring, and notifications are sent simultaneously with gas leak and fire notifications to
ensure optimal transmission information. In an emergency, the MQ-2 sensor will issue a buzzer and
LED signal when detects gas leaks. NodeMCU then sends commands to the Telegram Bot to send
notifications in real-time. Based on experimental results, this tool is effective in detecting gas at a
distance of less than 10 cm, and the response time of the MQ-2 sensor is approximately 7 seconds.
Thus, The risk of fire due to gas leaks is expected to be minimized.
